Fee Department Manager (Pasternack Tilker Ziegler Walsh Stanton and Romano)

Location: New York

Fee Department Manager for a Large Law Firm that specializes in Social Security Disability claims.

With 12 offices throughout the five boroughs, Long Island and Upstate New York, our firm serves clients in need legal representation for Worker’s Compensation, Social Security Disability, Civil Service Disability Pensions, and Personal Injury claims.

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Fee Department Manager to join our Social Security Disability firm. As a Fee Department Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Fee Department and providing excellent administrative support to our team of Disability professionals. Your responsibilities will range from supervising department staff to managing client interactions and maintaining efficient procedures. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the Social Security Disability process.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafts and reviews Fee Petitions, Fee Disputes, and Appeals.
  • Oversee and train Fee paralegals including management of caseloads.
  • Works with lawyers and clients to expedite collection of the firm’s accounts receivable balances. Ensures that receivables are realized at as close to 100% as possible and collected in a timely manner in accordance with stated firm policy.
  • Routinely communicates with Managing Attorney and Director of Operations to understand issues that may result in delays in payment or poor realization of firm receivables.
  • Utilizes firm standard software to identify and prioritize matters for follow-up and monitoring.
  • Assists with preparation of monthly reports.
  • Coordinates write-offs of aged or otherwise uncollectible invoices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years experience in Social Security Disability environment (law firm, SSA employee) handling Fee Petitions, appeals, and billing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Litify Software is a plus
  • Fluent in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Creole is a plus
