Understand deeming and how and when it applies.  Although SSI deeming is little understood, it hurts SSI recipients by limiting or eliminating financial eligibility for SSI. Deeming affects SSI financial eligibility and benefit payment amount for children with disabilities, as well as adults with disabilities and elders.  Learn when deeming does and does not apply.  Learn the deductions and exclusions that apply in the deeming formulas. Learn about the revisions to the SSI Public Assistance Household rule that eliminate deeming for many families.
