NOSSCR’s 40th Anniversary Social Security Disability Law Conference

Each year, NOSSCR hosts the premier conference for Social Security disability attorneys and representatives from around the country. This year, we are celebrating our 40th anniversary in the city where we held our first-ever conference in 1979: New Orleans, Louisiana!

Join us as we explore the implications of several Supreme Court decisions, hear from medical experts, listen to live 6-piece swing band in the Freedom Pavilion at the National WWII Museum, give back in our day of service, and much more. And of course, as with any NOSSCR conference, you will have the opportunity to earn CLEs, network, and learn from many experts in the field.

New Orleans, LA (NOLA) is a unique and special American city, so make sure to make the most of your time there! The following are some ideas for you to incorporate into your itinerary:

  • Don’t miss the famous, historic French Quarter with its unique blend of shops and restaurants housed in the iconic Creole architectural style. Make sure to take a stroll down Bourbon Street at night.
  • NOLA’s 9th Restaurant Week is September 9-15, 2019. See the full list of participating eateries at www.coolinaryneworleans.com/restaurant-week. Make your dinner reservations early!
  • Stop by Café du Monde anytime and get a freshly made beignet (a square, French-style doughnut covered with powdered sugar) and café au lait. The iconic establishment has been around since 1862 in the New Orleans French Market. The Cafe is open 24/7.
  • Fried chicken is a New Orleans staple. Get some of the best in town at Willie Mae’s Scotch House, Coop’s Place, or Lil Dizzy’s.
  • So many local breweries, so little time! The options include Brieux Carré, NOLA Brewing Tap Room, Second Line Brewing, and Miel Brewery and Tap Room.
  • Tour Oak Alley, one of America’s most famous and well-preserved plantations to learn about southern plantation life before the Civil War.
  • Take the historic Steamboat Natchez riverboat tour along the Mississippi River. Travel like the residents of 19th century NOLA on an authentic paddle-wheel ship while taking in the view.
