Speakers will use a case study involving self-employment earnings, residual income, subsidized employment, and unsuccessful work attempt. The case study will present a fact pattern that at first glance appeared to be a likely loss at Step 1 because of complicated and above-SGA employment income. Untangling of the complex knot of employment issues and presentation to the ALJ with citations to regulations and POMS resulted in a favorable outcome.
