Financial Hardship Policy for NOSSCR Continuing Education Conferences and Events

This policy is designed to ensure access to NOSSCR conferences and educational opportunities for disability representatives experiencing financial hardship. We believe that all representatives deserve access to quality continuing education. This policy is designed to help bridge the gap for those experiencing financial hardship. While we strive to offer affordable educational opportunities, we recognize that unforeseen circumstances may create a burden.

Eligibility

Attorneys and non-attorneys in good standing with their accrediting body demonstrating a legitimate financial hardship may be eligible for a fee reduction.

Financial Hardship Criteria
Consideration will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to:

  • Recent unemployment or underemployment
  • Medical emergencies
  • Significant personal or family financial obligations

Application Process
Attorneys seeking a fee reduction due to financial hardship must submit a written application at least two weeks prior to the conference date. Applications received later than this deadline may not be considered.

The application should include:

  • A brief explanation of the financial hardship
  • Supporting documentation (optional, but may strengthen your application, such as a pay stub or a letter from a medical provider)
  • Contact information

Applications can be submitted by email to nosscr@nosscr.org.

Fee Reduction

For conferences with a fee of $500 or less, the reduction amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

For conferences with a fee of over $500, qualified attorneys will receive a minimum 50% reduction in the course fee.

Important Notes

This policy applies only to conference registration fees and does not cover meals, lodging, or travel costs associated with the conference.

All application materials are confidential.

Decisions regarding fee reductions are final.
