Qualifications

  • Must be licensed in any state and in good standing with the State Bar.
  • Two plus years experience practicing Social Security Disability Law.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Deadline oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment focusing on teamwork.
  • A demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively shows empathy to
    claimants who are dealing with difficult circumstances.
  • Upbeat with a can-do attitude; must be able to work independently and have a desire to
    assume significant responsibility.
  • Understanding of Social Security regulations, POMS, HALLEX, and other related
    matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Personally handle a caseload of Social Security disability cases from initial through the
    hearing level.
  • Assist and provide guidance to paralegals with their Social Security disability caseloads.
  • Handle extensive client interaction, including intake review and subsequent
    communications.
  • Read and summarize sometimes voluminous medical records.
  • Prepare briefs and requests for on the record decisions to achieve successful
    resolutions on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare clients for hearing and appear before Administrative Law Judges to advocate on
    behalf of disabled clients at hearings.
  • Have active involvement in all phases of client representation from initial office
    conferences, case development, hearings, and appellate advocacy.
  • Conduct opening and closing statements, cross examination of vocational witnesses and
    have a thorough familiarity with the record of each case.
