NOSSCR Helps Secure Increase In Limit for Fee Petitions

This week’s announcement that the Social Security Administration (SSA) will be increasing the ALJ jurisdictional authorization limit for fee petitions to ,000 was a major victory for NOSSCR members. The new limit will be effective on November 30, 2022.

“We understand how this limit effectively works as a cap for representatives who routinely request the jurisdictional maximum to avoid further delays in the fee authorization process,” said NOSSCR President David Camp.

After the SSA Commissioner agreed to raise the fee agreement cap earlier this year, NOSSCR immediately met with the Office of Hearings Operations (OHO) to advocate for an increase to the limit that an initial fee authorizer can approve under the fee petition process.

A few weeks later, OHO recognized the need for this increase and agreed to make it happen.

“We will continue to advocate for increases to the maximum fees and improvements to the fee authorization and payment procedures, which are top priorities for NOSSCR,” said Camp.
