NOSSCR Hires Consultant Jim Meltsner to Bolster Lobbying

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 31, 2019 –NOSSCR is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Jim Meltsner of Meltsner Strategies to assist our lobbying team in Washington, DC. Jim Meltsner brings a deep understanding of Capitol Hill legislative, administrative and political processes, built over a 25 -plus year career in government relations. Jim is currently President and principal of Meltsner Strategies, providing lobbying and strategic consulting services to a diverse portfolio of corporate and non-profit clients. The firm’s clients include General Dynamics Corporation, the National Association of Immigration Judges (NAIJ), the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and Actors Equity. Until recently, Meltsner Strategies also represented the Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ) for five years, and Jim was immersed in Social Security policy.

Prior to founding Meltsner Strategies, Jim’s most recent position was Vice President of Government Relations and Communications for Alenia North America. In this position Jim lead a team of lobbyists, outside consultants a public relations staff to represent this Italian aerospace company in its interactions with the Congress and the media.

Prior to joining Alenia, Jim worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation, which culminated in the role of Vice President for Congressional Affairs. At Northrop Grumman, Jim also played a key role in the management of the company’s $1.4M-per-cycle Political Action Committee. He helped create the PAC’s budget, participated in fundraisers and assisted in PAC recruitment and retention.

Earlier in his career, Jim served as a Presidential Appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce in the Administration of George H.W. Bush.

Jim earned his law degree at George Washington University, and his undergraduate degree at Colby College. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars. An avid woodworker, he collects and restores woodworking tools and machinery.
