Social Security’s Updated Unified Agenda

July 10, 2026

Historically, on a semiannual basis, the Social Security Administration releases a Unified Agenda, alerting the public to their planned actions over the next several months. As the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs explains, “The Unified Agenda provides uniform reporting of data on regulatory and deregulatory activities under development throughout the Federal Government, covering approximately 60 departments, agencies, and commissions. Each edition of the Unified Agenda includes regulatory agendas from all Federal entities that currently have regulations under development or review. The activities included in individual agency agendas are primarily those currently planned to have an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM), a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), or a Final Rule issued within the next 12 months.”

Last year, SSA’s agenda was only updated once, and it included the much-talked-about MegaReg and a plan to rescind the helpful public assistance household changes that are currently in place. This week, SSA finally released an updated Unified Agenda. Thankfully, neither of those agenda items from last year were pushed through, and both items are absent from the agency’s newly updated agenda for this year. Take a look at SSA’s newly released Unified Agenda here. We will be keeping a watchful eye on all of these agenda items and will bring you updates as soon as anything changes.
