On November 19, 2025, by a vote of 14-13, the Senate Finance Committee advanced the nomination of Arjun Mody to be Deputy Commissioner of Social Security. Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID) issued the following statement: “As a veteran of Capitol Hill, Mr. Mody is well equipped to assist Commissioner Bisignano in administering the programs overseen by the Social Security Administration.”

From here, the nomination is expected to be called for a full Senate vote, where a simple majority will be needed to confirm the nomination.
